Be the founding clinical leader of a brand-new site! A mission-driven community health center serving some of New York City s most underserved residents is seeking a Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of Behavioral Health, splitting your time between shaping a growing program and caring for patients.
What You ll Do:
- Spend roughly half your time on clinical care, including mentoring and supporting nurse practitioners, and half on leadership and administration
- Serve as the collaborating physician for psychiatric nurse practitioners
- Set clinical standards and policies in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, whom you ll report to directly
- Build and onboard a high-performing behavioral health team and help guide hiring, evaluation, and development
- Lead quality improvement, risk management, and compliance efforts across behavioral health services
- Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and growth as part of senior leadership
- Drive integration of behavioral health with primary care and oral health in a patient-centered medical home model
- Build partnerships with hospitals, health plans, universities, and community organizations
- Partner on identifying and growing funding sources
- Support residential and case management teams with consultation, training, and care coordination on complex cases
What You ll Bring:
- MD or DO with an active NY medical license
- Board certified in Psychiatry
- 3+ years in a clinical leadership role, ideally in a community health center/FQHC setting
- Fellowship training in psychiatry, child and adolescent, or substance use is a plus
- Knowledge of credentialing, quality improvement, and ambulatory care administration
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
