Production Drywall Hanger - New Construction Residential

About Retana Builders
Retana Builders is a specialty contractor delivering drywall, framing, insulation, painting, wallcovering, and interior finish work for residential, commercial, and government projects across the DMV. Our residential division focuses on new construction - production single-family homes, townhome communities, and custom homes - for builders and developers across the region. We are growing and looking for Production Drywall Hangers who can put up high volumes of clean, square board day after day.
The Role
This is a production position. The Production Drywall Hanger installs gypsum board on wood and metal framing in new-construction single-family homes and townhomes, working under the direction of the Job Foreman and Project Manager. You will hang walls, ceilings, soffits, bulkheads, garages, and basements to the drawings and specs, and you will be expected to move through houses on a repeating production schedule, hitting and sustaining high daily board counts on fast-track schedules. Speed and quality are both required and both are rewarded - top producers earn performance-based incentives and bonuses on top of hourly pay. We are looking for hangers who can move fast without giving the finishers rework.
What You'll Do
• Hang gypsum board on walls, ceilings, soffits, bulkheads, and chases to plan and spec
• Meet daily production targets set by the Foreman and track your own board counts
• Install fire-rated garage separations, moisture-resistant board in wet areas, and sound-rated party walls correctly
• Measure, cut, and fit board tightly around doors, windows, MEP penetrations, and corners
• Fasten board to the correct screw pattern and spacing for the assembly type
• Install corner bead, control joints, trims, and accessories
• Read and work from builder plans, wall-type schedules, and scope sheets
• Verify framing, blocking, and insulation are complete before hanging and flag issues to the Foreman
• Keep board waste low and stock material efficiently
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all company and site safety requirements
What We're Looking For
• Extensive new-construction residential drywall hanging experience
• Proven track record of high daily production rates on production homebuilding or townhome communities
• Working knowledge of residential code requirements for garage, party-wall, and wet-area assemblies
• Ability to cut and fit board accurately and consistently
• Comfortable reading builder plans and wall-type schedules
• Proficient with screw guns, routers, board lifts, and hand tools
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work on fast-track schedules
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites across the DMV
• OSHA 10 preferred; Spanish/English bilingual a plus
