About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to oversee safety programs, driver compliance, vehicle documentation, and regulatory requirements for our dump truck operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the trucking or heavy-haul industry and a strong understanding of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, FMCSA, and state transportation regulations.
- Monitor driver qualification files, CDL records, medical certificates, and required documentation.
- Maintain and monitor driver hours-of-service (HOS) and ELD compliance.
- Coordinate DOT inspections, vehicle maintenance records, and safety inspections.
- Conduct driver safety meetings, training, and incident investigations.
- Monitor driver violations, accidents, and corrective actions.
- Prepare for DOT audits and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Work with dispatch, fleet maintenance, and management to promote safe operations.
- Track permits, registrations, insurance documents, and other required fleet records.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in safety and compliance within a dump truck, trucking, or heavy-haul company is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations and applicable state requirements.
- Experience managing driver files, vehicle records, inspections, and safety documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet compliance deadlines.
