We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Welder / Maintenance Technician to support fabrication-shop operations through material handling, machine-operation assistance, preparation and finishing of materials, welding and fabrication support, and general shop maintenance. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, willing to be trained, maintains excellent attendance, and upholds high standards of cosmetic workmanship and workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate basic tools and shop equipment under supervision.
- Move, stack, store, and transfer materials and supplies throughout the shop and storage areas.
- Assist with the preparation, cutting, grinding, welding, and finishing of metal and other fabrication materials.
- Support machine operators, welders, and fabricators with setup and cleanup.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished products from machines and workstations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, disposing of scrap materials, and returning tools to their proper places.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment, including eye protection.
- Complete supervisor-assigned duties and support other shop team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand for 8 or more hours per day.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Willingness to work in a hot shop environment without air conditioning.
- Ability to wear safety-toed work boots and required eye protection.
- Willingness to work an 8-hour shift, with hours to be determined, including available AM and PM shifts.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required based on workload.
- Commitment to excellent attendance and following workplace safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with shop tools.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication.
- Training through an apprenticeship or technical school.
- Certification in a specific skill area, such as welding or precision sheet metal work.
