Production Engineer

MP Husky LLC, the leading manufacturer of Cable Bus and Cable Tray in America, is seeking a Production Engineer to support product design, manufacturing, and ERP data accuracy.

This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to ensure products are accurately defined, costed, documented, and produced. It is a good fit for an early- to mid-career engineer who enjoys solving practical problems, learning new systems, and working across both physical and digital manufacturing processes.

The position is primarily office-based, with approximately 10-15% of time spent on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain bills of materials, routings, labor times, scrap factors, outsourcing costs, and related ERP data.
• Investigate and correct BOM, costing, routing, drawing, and work-order issues.
• Create and maintain manufacturing drawings and customer-facing product drawings.
• Develop product variations and support occasional new-product design and testing.
• Create production nests for laser and turret equipment.
• Use Excel, SQL, and related tools to analyze manufacturing data and support larger ERP updates.
• Support Manufacturing with technical questions related to products, drawings, tooling, equipment, and processes.
• Assist with capital equipment projects, including vendor evaluation, ROI, commissioning, initial process development, and production handoff.
• Initiate and support Engineering Change Orders.
• Help Sales identify appropriate products for unusual customer requirements.
• Develop working knowledge of applicable NEMA, UL, CSA, and other product requirements.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proficiency with parametric CAD such as Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, operators, and vendors.

Preferred skills and experience:

• ERP/MRP systems, BOMs, routings, or manufacturing costing.
• SQL, Power Query, VBA, or similar data-analysis tools.
• CNC laser cutting, turret punching, nesting software, welding, robotic welding, or other metal-fabrication processes.
• CAD automation, Revit, or engineering change-control systems.
• Familiarity with design-bid-build process and civil project drawings.
• NEMA, UL, CSA, NEC, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.

The ideal candidate is curious, practical, and comfortable moving between CAD, spreadsheets, ERP data, and the manufacturing floor. Expertise in every area is not expected; many of these skills can be learned on the job.
