What You'll Be Doing
As Assistant Controller, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting of a growing, multi-entity organization.
Your responsibilities will include:
Help lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting across multiple entities.
Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and supporting financial schedules.
Assist with consolidated financial reporting, intercompany transactions, and analysis of financial results.
Partner with the Controller/CFO leadership team to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting capabilities.
Support financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow visibility, and operational performance reporting.
Leverage advanced Excel skills to analyze financial information, develop reporting tools, and identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit, tax, and compliance activities.
Collaborate with business leaders to understand operational results, explain financial performance, and improve decision-making.
Help refine accounting procedures, reporting systems, and processes to support continued growth and scalability.
Participate in special projects and initiatives that provide exposure to the financial and operational priorities of a private equity-backed business.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
We're looking for a sharp, intellectually curious CPA who combines technical accounting knowledge with business judgment, initiative, and a desire to grow.
Preferred qualifications:
CPA designation required, with a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience combining public accounting and private industry, ideally with exposure to both audit and hands-on corporate accounting.
Relevant experience in professional services, business services, real estate, construction, distribution, or similar multi-entity operating environments.
Experience supporting monthly close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including sophisticated financial models, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and large-data analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to understand both accounting details and the larger business picture.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute effectively in a hands-on, evolving environment.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Interest in understanding the financial and operational drivers of a successful business.
Prior experience in a private equity-backed company is valuable but not required. Equally important is the desire to learn, take ownership, and grow professionally.
