Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg Registered Nurse for a travel assignment in Portsmouth, NH. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a medical-surgical unit, demonstrating advanced clinical skills and effective communication.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:6, occasional 1:7 during surge periods
- Unit Staffing: Unit Secretary (day shift only) and Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) for both shifts
- Type of Equipment: Telemetry
- Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
- Scheduling Requirements: Three 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend, and rotating holidays
- Floating Policy: Float to the same level of care
- Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside Shift Report, Hourly Safety Rounding, Personal Connections
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a hospital setting required
- Active License: Must have an active nursing license at the time of submission
- Certifications: BLS and IV certification required
- Advanced Skills: IV certified and proficient in various medical-surgical procedures
Responsibilities
The Travel Med-Surg RN will be responsible for the following:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients across the unit
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
- Performing various medical procedures, including:
- Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
- Wound care
- Drain management (chest tubes, Jackson-Pratt drains, etc.)
- Foley catheter insertion
- Central line dressing changes
- Telemetry monitoring
- Electrocardiograms (EKGs) as needed
- Collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care
- Engaging in continuous education and professional development
