Orthopedics - Hand Surgery Physician

Pacific Companies

Louisiana

Job description

Step into an Orthopedic Hand Surgery opportunity where the demand is already waiting for you. The group has been without a dedicated hand surgeon for two years, and its previous specialist built a full clinic and OR schedule within approximately six months, demonstrating the depth of the existing market. You will join an approachable, collaborative group of subspecialists who routinely refer within the practice and support one another rather than expecting physicians to work outside their comfort zones. The incoming surgeon will have substantial freedom to shape the practice around their interests, whether that means staying exclusively focused on hand or expanding farther into the upper extremity. A large regional catchment area brings patients from well beyond the immediate community, supporting both immediate volume and long-term practice growth. For an orthopedic-trained, fellowship-trained hand surgeon looking to build a lasting practice, this offers the autonomy and demand to make that happen.

Position, Compensation & Organization

  • $740,000 base salary plus sign-on incentive
  • 100% Hand & Upper Extremity volume available
  • Dedicated OR time with immediate block time available
  • Typical practice model supports approximately 2-2.5 clinic days and 2 OR days per week
  • 1:10 General Orthopedic call
  • General orthopedic cases limited to call with no routine general cases required
  • Call compensated at $1,600 per night
  • Level II Trauma Center with trauma team support for evaluation and admissions
  • Dedicated orthopedic hospital with 6 ORs and an 18-bed orthopedic floor
  • Multiple APPs provide clinical and surgical support
  • On-site X-ray, CT, MRI and procedure rooms
  • On-site orthopedic rehabilitation, PT, OT and dedicated hand therapy
  • Established group includes Total Joint, Trauma, Sports, Foot & Ankle and Pediatric Orthopedics
  • Academic involvement available through affiliated residency programs
  • Production-based RVU bonus opportunity

Discover Gulf Coast Living

Build your career in a community that pairs Louisiana's distinctive personality with a more approachable pace of life. Renowned food, music, festivals, and Southern hospitality give the area a strong cultural identity, while its college-town atmosphere adds energy without the congestion and expense of a major metro. Families can enjoy welcoming neighborhoods and strong educational options while taking advantage of a cost of living designed to make a high quality of life more attainable. Downtown offers its own mix of art galleries, local boutiques, and cultural events, creating plenty to explore without leaving town. The location also puts physicians within convenient reach of two major Southern destinations-Houston and New Orleans-when a bigger-city weekend is calling. It is a Gulf Coast lifestyle that balances culture, affordability, family life, and accessibility.

Community Highlights

  • Named "Happiest City in America" by a Wall Street Journal study
  • Regional airport just 15 minutes from downtown
