Position Overview LEAD Staffing is seeking experienced FCAW Seam Welders to support military shipbuilding and marine construction projects. Candidates must have strong structural steel welding experience and the ability to produce high-quality welds that meet inspection standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform FCAW structural steel welding in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G positions.
- Read blueprints and prepare, fit, and weld structural components.
- Utilize ceramic backing tape and wedges for full-penetration welds.
- Set up and troubleshoot welding equipment.
- Perform grinding, joint preparation, and weld inspections.
- Follow all shipyard safety and hot work procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of shipyard experience OR 1-2 years of shipyard experience plus 5 years of heavy industrial experience.
- Proficient in FCAW welding, blueprint reading, and metric measurements.
- Experience with ceramic backing and welds requiring X-ray inspection.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and possess required original or certified documentation.
- Must successfully complete FCAW qualification testing (1G, 2G, 3G X-ray testing and separate 4G testing).
- Must be able to work in a physically demanding shipyard environment.
