Position Overview
LEAD Staffing is seeking experienced Journeyman Structural Welders to support military shipbuilding and marine construction projects. Qualified candidates must have extensive experience performing structural steel and pipe welding using multiple welding processes while meeting strict quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural and pipe welding using FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and SAW processes.
- Complete tack, fillet, and full-penetration welds in all positions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot welding equipment.
- Prepare joints through grinding, cutting, fitting, and surface preparation.
- Produce welds that meet visual and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) requirements.
- Follow shipyard safety procedures, hot work requirements, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction or mechanical experience, with strong marine welding experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Welding certifications in applicable processes, including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and SAW.
- Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or copper-nickel.
- Ability to read blueprints and work with standard and metric measurements.
- Knowledge of military welding standards, including MIL-STD-1689.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must successfully complete required welding qualification tests and training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform duties in confined spaces.
- Availability to work various shifts and overtime as required.
Compensation & Testing Competitive compensation based on experience, certifications, and demonstrated welding proficiency. Candidates must successfully complete applicable welding qualification testing and may be required to complete additional training before assignment.
