Emergency Medicine Physician

Urgent Opportunity 1.5-2 Physician Positions Available

An exciting opportunity is available for Emergency Medicine Physicians to join a collaborative emergency department in Virginia. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality emergency care in a well-supported hospital environment with access to a broad range of specialty services.

Qualified physicians with an active, unrestricted Virginia medical license and the required credentials are encouraged to apply.

• Location: Virginia

• Openings: 1.5-2 physician positions

• Priority: Urgent

• Annual ED Volume: Approximately 32,000 visits

• Emergency Department Beds: 19

• Admission Rate: 16%

• Coverage Model: 24-hour physician coverage and 36 hours of daily APP coverage

• Transfer Rate: Approximately 3%

• EMR: Meditech

Physicians will practice in a collaborative emergency department with access to a wide range of specialty services, including:

• Hospital Medicine

• Nephrology

• Orthopedics

• Pediatrics

• Podiatry

• Anesthesia

• Cardiology

• Pulmonology

• Radiology

• Surgery

• Telepsychiatry

• Teleneurology

• Trauma services

Transfer Guidelines:

• Major trauma and burn patients are transferred to a designated referral center.

• Pediatric patients are transferred to a designated pediatric referral center.

Education & Board Certification

• Completion of an Emergency Medicine residency.

• ABEM Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Licensure & DEA

• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license.

• DEA registration with a Virginia address, including Schedules II, IIN, III, IIIN, IV, and V.

Certification Requirements
For physicians who are not board certified in Emergency Medicine:

• Current ACLS certification.

• Current PALS certification.

• Previous ATLS certification history.

• Current-year influenza vaccination.

• Case logs covering the previous two years.

• CME/CEU documentation for the previous two years.

• Completion of the required facility sedation quiz.

• Established emergency department with approximately 32,000 annual visits.

• Physician and APP coverage model.

• Access to comprehensive specialty support.

• Collaborative clinical environment.

Emergency Medicine Physicians with an active Virginia medical license, required DEA registration, and appropriate board status are encouraged to express interest.
