Locum Tenens Physician Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $6,480-$7,670
- Location: Marquette, Michigan, in the scenic Upper Peninsula
- Practice Setting: Hospital-based Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Schedule: 24-hour call coverage, including listed blocks from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.; ongoing locum tenens assignments may be available
- Initial Orientation: January 28, 2027, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Scheduled Coverage Dates: January 29-February 1, February 26-March 1, March 26-29, and April 2-5, 2027, with ongoing needs
- Call Volume: Approximately 8 calls per 24 hours
- Department Size: 15 beds
- Patient Volume: Approximately 4.3 patient encounters per shift
- Annual Delivery Volume: Approximately 370-380 deliveries managed by Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Teaching Environment: Supervision of family medicine residents and medical students
OB/GYN Physician Job Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree
- At least 1 year of experience practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Active Michigan medical license; IMLC participation is not accepted
- Board certification or board-eligible status in Obstetrics and Gynecology, subject to facility privileging requirements
- Ability to respond to the Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery within 10 minutes when requested
- Ability to arrive within 30 minutes of initial contact for emergency conditions or changes in the expected course of labor
- Experience managing routine and complicated obstetric and gynecologic cases
- ACLS, ATLS, BLS, PALS, and ABLS are not required; additional certifications are welcome
- Completion of a conscious sedation module is required only if requesting conscious sedation privileges; training is available onsite
Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour OB/GYN call coverage for the Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery
- Evaluate and manage low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, routine deliveries, complicated deliveries, and urgent obstetric conditions
- Perform and manage vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including breech presentations, multiple births, abruptions, VBACs, and other complex cases
- Interpret fetal heart rate monitoring, including NST, CST, and FSE data
- Provide surgical gynecology care, including open procedures and diagnostic or minor laparoscopic procedures
- Perform or support office and minor gynecologic procedures such as IUD placement, cystoscopy, colposcopy, cryosurgery, and LEEP when qualified
- Manage assigned and unassigned patients in coordination with the clinical team
- Participate in the education and supervision of family medicine residents and medical students
- Respond promptly to changes in labor status and emergency conditions while maintaining timely attending evaluation and follow-up
