Ashland, Kentucky · USA job

Orthodontist Flexible 4-Day Week Kentucky

The Medicus Firm

Ashland, Kentucky

Job description

Orthodontist

Charleston and Huntington, West Virginia to Ashland, Kentucky

Position Highlights

  • Work-Life Balance: Four-day patient schedule, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. One Friday per quarter is reserved for a team meeting from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The practice is open to building the schedule around a doctor's personal, family, and travel preferences.
  • Desirable Practice Setting: Privately held, orthodontist-owned group with four offices and an established, growing patient base. Charleston is the original location with five chairs. Teays Valley has seven chairs, a private clinic room, two exam rooms, and the practice call center. Huntington has five chairs. Ashland is the largest office with eight chairs, a private room, and three possible exam rooms.
  • Ideal Work Environment: A dedicated administrative team handles billing, insurance, marketing, and scheduling, so the incoming doctor stays focused on clinical care. Three of the four offices sit alongside or beside leading pediatric dental practices that serve as established referral sources, and the Ashland market has no strong competing orthodontic presence.
  • Favorable Call Schedule: Doctors rotate weekly on call for emergency patient calls only. Clinical coordinators provide support on weekends.
  • Culture and Support: Three doctors who collaborate daily and are invested in sharing advanced technique and practice leadership skills. The group offers the resources of a multi-location network with the feel of a close-knit private practice, and provides structured clinical mentorship well suited to a new graduate.
  • Partnership Opportunities: A transparent, structured pathway to future practice equity is open to the right person.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary of $250,000 to $350,000 for a new graduate, flexible depending on experience. The practice is open to either a salary or a per diem structure and welcomes other proposals for the right fit.
  • Additional Bonus Incentives: Start bonus incentive paying $200 for each start above 30 starts in a month.
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available.
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Health, dental, and vision coverage available on the group plan at current rates. Life and AD&D coverage. Short-term and long-term disability coverage. Retirement plan in which the employer contributes a percentage of salary annually rather than a match. Profit share. Paid vacation, paid holidays, and paid CME time
  • Relocation Assistance: Available.
  • Student Loan Repayment Assistance: Not offered.
  • Professional Development: Paid continuing education, with license, dues, and subscriptions covered by the practice. Multi-state licensing fee assistance is available.
  • Additional Perks: Malpractice insurance coverage provided.

Qualifications

  • Degree: DDS or DMD with completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program.
  • Certifications: Board Certified.
  • Licensure: West Virginia and Kentucky dental licensure, or eligibility for both.
  • Skillset: General Orthodontics.
  • Experience: New graduates are welcomed and supported with mentorship. Experienced orthodontists are equally encouraged to apply, with compensation flexible based on experience.
  • Sponsorship: Not at this time.

About the Community

  • Small Metro and Suburban Communities: Four close-knit communities spanning the Charleston, West Virginia to Ashland, Kentucky corridor, including Teays Valley and Huntington.
  • Lifestyle and Affordability: A low-cost-of-living region where earnings go considerably further, with housing options ranging from acreage and riverfront property to established, quiet neighborhoods at a fraction of big-city pricing.
  • Prime Location: The offices sit along the I-64 corridor, making travel between locations quick and scenic rather than a daily commute through metropolitan traffic.
  • Education: Highly rated public school districts in both West Virginia and Kentucky.
  • Community Attributes: Safe, welcoming neighborhoods where children play outside, and neighbors know one another, with strong local support for the practice and its providers.
  • Easy Travel: Short, stress-free drives between all four offices, with Charleston and Huntington providing regional airport access.
  • Vibrant Lifestyle: Immediate weekend access to Appalachian outdoor recreation, including hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, boating, and pristine state parks.
