This role is well suited for an attorney who enjoys taking ownership of sophisticated litigation matters and who is comfortable moving beyond motion practice and discovery into meaningful courtroom advocacy. Candidates may come from private practice, government, a public-sector legal organization, or another sophisticated litigation environment. The most important qualifications are substantial civil litigation experience, strong legal writing and advocacy skills, and a proven ability to handle trial matters. Responsibilities Manage complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution Develop litigation strategy and evaluate liability and exposure Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents Conduct and defend depositions Prepare matters for hearings, mediation, and trial Represent clients in court proceedings and other litigation events Work with experts, witnesses, and other professionals Conduct legal research and provide strategic legal analysis Negotiate settlements when appropriate Take cases through trial when necessary Work collaboratively with attorneys and internal stakeholders Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school Admission to the Ohio Bar 7+ years of civil litigation experience Trial experience required Strong courtroom advocacy skills Excellent legal research, writing, and communication abilities Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation Public-sector/government litigation experience will be considered Interested in hearing more?
