Locums Critical Care Medicine NP nights in Michigan with a 7 on, 7 off block schedule and an open ICU model where you will directly manage ICU patients. Inpatient setting with supervising physician backup available within 20 minutes.
Highlights
- 7 on, 7 off nights, predictable block scheduling
- Open ICU model, APP manages ICU patients with supervising physician on call
- Average daily census around 10, typically 2 to 4 admits per day
- Fast credentialing noted by the site
Practice Setting
- Inpatient coverage at a 49 bed hospital with 6 ICU beds
- Open ICU model, you will manage ICU patients, general critical care and hospital medicine for ICU patients
- Adult patient population
- Support includes a supervising physician on call, available within 20 minutes
Schedule
- 7 on, 7 off nights
- Night shift schedule is 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM
- One day of orientation and Epic training is provided
- Coverage is for vacation coverage
Cases and Procedures
- Airway and ventilator management, including endotracheal intubation and extubation, ventilator weaning readiness, tracheostomy care and tube changes
- Vascular access, including CVC placement and management, arterial line insertion and removal, central and arterial catheters placed percutaneously or by cut down
- Chest procedures and emergent management, including chest tube insertion and tension pneumothorax management
- Additional procedures include lumbar puncture, moderate sedation, indirect laryngoscopy intubation, external pacing with temporary epicardial, transvenous, or transcutaneous pacemakers
Requirements
- Must be a Nurse Practitioner
- Michigan license required, site will not wait for license
- Board certified in Critical Care Medicine
- ACLS and BLS required
- Case logs required, 50 cases in the last 12 months
