The Birria Shack is looking for a dependable Cook, Taquero, Taco Chef, or Line Cook who takes pride in authentic Mexican cuisine. In this in-person role, you will help prepare flavorful, consistent birria tacos and create great experiences for guests. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys scratch cooking, working with a team, staying organized during busy service, and serving food they are proud of.
What Youll Do:
- Prepare and cook authentic Mexican tacos, birria, and other menu items according to established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
- Handle prep work efficiently, including batch cooking, ingredient preparation, portion control, and keeping the kitchen ready for high-volume service.
- Maintain food quality and guest safety by keeping workstations clean, storing food properly, and following kitchen sanitation procedures.
- Collaborate with kitchen and service team members to provide friendly, timely service during both regular and busy shifts.
- Help keep the pantry, prep area, and cooking line organized and ready for service.
Pay and Work Setting:
This is an in-person position located in Pico Rivera, CA 90660.
Starting pay is $18 per hour.

Job Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Cook, Taco Chef, Taquero, Line Cook, Prep Cook, or similar restaurant culinary professional.
Mexican cuisine or birria experience is preferred.
- The ability to follow recipes accurately while using sound judgment to maintain consistency, proper portions, and appealing presentation.
- An understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, safe ingredient handling, and the importance of a clean, orderly station.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to stay focused, efficient, and positive in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support restaurant operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual Spanish and English communication skills are preferred and can help support effective communication with guests and teammates.
- A Culinary Arts degree is welcome but not required. Hands-on cooking ability and a commitment to quality are most important.
