Opportunity Overview
This opportunity is designed to provide vacation and holiday coverage for an established cardiothoracic surgery program. The locum physician will focus on inpatient surgical care, consults, CVICU management, and call coverage. No outpatient clinic responsibilities are anticipated.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Inpatient consults
- CVICU rounding and post-operative management
- Emergency and urgent surgical coverage
- Weekend rounding with APP support
- Participation in 24-hour call rotation
Typical Daily Schedule
- Surgical cases generally begin between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM
- Day typically concludes around 5:00 PM depending on case volume and patient acuity
- Responsibilities include:
- Operating room cases
- Inpatient consults
- CVICU rounding
- Post-operative patient management
Call Coverage
- 24-Hour Call Coverage Required
- Average Admissions While On Call: Approximately 2
- 30-Minute Response Time Required
- Call may be taken from a local hotel within response radius
- APP Support Available Daily from 7:00 AM 6:00 PM
- Cardiac surgeon assumes coverage from 6:00 PM 7:00 AM

Requirements
- Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon
- Active Pennsylvania Medical License Required
- Active Pennsylvania DEA Required
- ACLS Certification Required
- BLS Certification Required
- Minimum Two Years of Experience
- Two Years of Case Logs Required with Presentation
- IMLC Candidates Will Not Be Considered
