Infectious Disease Physician Assistant Requirements
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program
- At least 3 years of Physician Assistant experience, including recent infectious disease practice
- Recent experience caring for and managing adult patients with HIV
- Valid North Carolina Physician Assistant license
- Current NCCPA certification, in accordance with applicable certification requirements
- Active DEA registration
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to complete required credentialing and privileging documentation
Infectious Disease Physician Assistant Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient infectious disease evaluation and management for adult patients.
- Evaluate and treat patients with HIV and other infectious disease conditions.
- Perform comprehensive physical assessments, review medical histories, and interpret diagnostic tests and results.
- Conduct preventive health screenings based on each patient's age, history, and individual needs.
- Educate patients and families regarding infectious disease conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
- Perform office-based specialty procedures within established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the Epic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, and clinical medical assistants to support high-quality patient care.
- Identify opportunities to improve outpatient infectious disease services by assessing clinical and operational needs.
