Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Details:

Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical 8 East, PT, Day

About the Unit

Neurology 8 East cares for patients with conditions such as strokes, seizures, brain tumors, and brain bleeds. Nurses gain valuable experience with complex neuro assessments, safety focused care, and close collaboration with neurology providers and therapy teams.

About the Role

The Neurology RN provides direct patient care using the nursing process while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include ongoing patient assessments, care coordination, documentation, and delivering compassionate, patient centered care consistent with Mercy's mission and values.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy clinical complexity, teamwork, and continuous skill development.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
    (or within 30 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Prior hospital or acute care nursing experience

  • Specialty certifications

New graduate nurses are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds

  • Prolonged standing and walking

  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
