Position Overview
Seeking a Board-Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon for locum tenens coverage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This opportunity is for an experienced cardiovascular surgeon to provide comprehensive surgical coverage alongside the existing cardiovascular surgery team. The provider will be responsible for performing cases, managing surgical patients, and providing inpatient, outpatient, and call coverage.
The facility is specifically seeking a surgeon who is comfortable performing cases directly and not referring or transferring cases out.
Schedule & Coverage
Start Date: December 8, 2026
Coverage needed approximately days per month
Schedule will be coordinated with the current cardiovascular surgeon
Coverage includes:
Clinical Responsibilities
Perform cardiovascular surgical procedures
Manage inpatient cardiovascular surgery patients
Provide outpatient cardiovascular surgery evaluations
Participate in surgical consultations
Provide emergency and urgent surgical coverage when needed
Collaborate with APPs, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
Complete documentation in Epic
Patient Volume
Requirements
Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgeon
Active Wisconsin medical license required
Facility cannot wait for state licensing
ACLS certification required
ATLS certification required
Eligible for hospital privileges and credentialing

New patient visits: 30 minutes
Follow-up visits: 30 minutes
Call response time: within 30 minutes or after 3 attempts
Return-to-site expectation: within 30 minutes or after 3 attempts
Documentation required in real time/by end of shift and post shift
Productivity Expectations
Productivity will be based on facility census and cardiovascular surgery service needs.
