Data Risk Manager This is a 6-month contract through the end of May; no conversion Hybrid - Local to Richmond, VA only, please (West Creek only) We are seeking a Data Risk Manager to support a large-scale business and technology integration involving complex data migrations, third-party integrations, and evolving data environments. This role will partner closely with business, technology, data, and risk stakeholders to identify and assess data risks, evaluate data management controls, and support the development of risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Assess data risks across operational and analytical data flows, data migrations, third-party integrations, and downstream data consumption.
- Support the migration of historical data and decommissioning of legacy data environments from a risk and governance perspective.
- Evaluate risks related to data access, data quality, data mapping, third-party data sharing, and new data models and consumption pipelines.
- Review data management controls and validation activities to identify gaps and potential areas of risk.
- Partner with technical and business teams to understand evolving data architecture and identify new or changing risks.
- Develop data risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and documentation for senior leadership.
- Communicate complex data concepts and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications- Strong background in data management, data risk, data governance, or technology risk.
- Strong understanding of the data lifecycle and risks associated with data movement, access, quality, and consumption.
- Knowledge of data governance, risk frameworks, and preventive and detective controls.
- Experience with data migrations, conversions, or large-scale data integrations preferred.
- Strong analytical judgment and ability to work effectively in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience translating data concepts into risk assessments or executive-level summaries.
- Financial services or banking experience preferred.
- DAMA/CDMP or similar data management certification is a plus.
