We are seeking a qualified Vocational Nursing Professional to provide direct nursing care and support healthcare services in correctional facilities. The successful candidate will work under the direction of facility nursing leadership and provide care within the permitted scope of vocational nursing practice.
Minimum Requirements:
- 12 continuous months of direct patient-care experience within the last 3 years.
- Current and valid California vocational nursing license.
- Current BLS certification from AHA or American Red Cross, including AED.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Current clinical competencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide and maintain necessary healthcare services according to facility policies and procedures.
- Perform basic nursing and hygiene care.
- Administer prescribed medications and provide ordered treatments.
- Monitor patient status and communicate significant findings to the RN or Primary Care Provider.
- Provide patient education and document care accurately.
- Assist with therapeutic measures, treatments, examinations, and clinic appointments.
- Obtain specimens as ordered for diagnostic testing.
- Assist healthcare providers with minor procedures and other clinical services.
- Support mental health professionals by observing, monitoring, and documenting patient behaviour.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and routine treatments.
- Clean and maintain healthcare equipment.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient health records.
