Overview In this Estimator role, you will guide the bid and preconstruction process from plan review to subcontractor pricing and bid assembly. You'll perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, scoping, and bid documentation, contributing to value opportunities and GMP budgeting. Based in Los Angeles or San Diego, you'll engage with architects, subs, and internal teams to deliver accurate estimates that support project wins and execution. You'll stay current with estimating tech and ensure safety and inclusion programs are followed.

Responsibilities- Perform quantity take-offs and assist in pricing and bidding of construction projects
- Clarify scope with architects/consultants and document changes
- Review milestone documents for value opportunities and pricing
- Participate in internal estimate review and final assembly for owner presentation
- Organize bid information post-bid for reference
- Assist field ops with change-order pricing if needed
- Coordinate and provide documents to subcontractors; prepare subcontracts scope exhibits
- Support hard bid/GMP budgeting by soliciting subcontractor input and evaluating bids
- Build relationships with subcontractors to gain competitive advantage
- Represent McCarthy at industry events and maintain internal client relationships
- Stay updated with estimating technology and techniques
- Implement Safety Programs and EEO/Affirmative Action Programs
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related major
- Construction estimating internship experience preferred
- General knowledge of construction principles and processes
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes
- Working knowledge of estimating tools such as OST, MC2, QTO and BIM-related software
- Strong math and analytical skills
