Multiple positions available. Responsible for assisting the Sow Farm Manager with swine production and welfare, facility care, and personal management. Responsible for overseeing the health and wellbeing of the animals, maintaining a secure environment for all employees and visitors to the facility, implementing biosecurity practices to safeguard the health of the herd, enhancing production efficiency, and providing development opportunities for employees with an emphasis on Breeding and Farrowing. Develop animal welfare plans related to feeding, housing, sanitation, or parasite and disease control of pigs that will achieve stated production numbers, based on knowledge of conception and farrow rates and genetic composition of the pigs. Oversee adherence to and enforcement of animal wellbeing policies, environmental protocols, food safety policies, safety protocols, and bio-security protocols. Assess and respond to animal health challenges. Implement and uphold farm safety policies including vital behaviors. Execute all treatment and vaccination protocols. Advise Sow Farm Manager on products and techniques that could enhance sow farm production efforts. Responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all farm employees by overseeing proper site care and farm assets. Manage and conduct comprehensive farm safety training for all direct reports. Prepare and manage weekly schedule for employees based on priorities to achieve desired results. Responsible for talent identification, recruitment, and hiring of Animal Breeder positions for the farm. Ensure Animal Breeder employees are meeting stated production targets. Employee may be placed at one of two farm locations in Atkinson, Nebraska. Travel not required. Salary: $50,045.00. Requires: Bachelors degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or related degree. One year of experience in swine production or related animal production field. Demonstrated understanding of animal production practices in the pork industry. Demonstrated understanding of relevant animal welfare regulations and industry standards. Demonstrated understanding of bio-security protocols within swine production or related agricultural field.
