Overview As a Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer, you lead electrical design for commercial and industrial projects with emphasis on renewable energy and power systems. You will guide projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring safe, code-compliant, cost-effective solutions. You work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate solar, energy storage, and fuel-cell assets with on-site and grid interconnections. Responsibilities- Lead electrical system design for power distribution, switchgear, transformers, LV systems, lighting, and controls
- Integrate renewable energy assets (solar PV, BESS, fuel cells) with on-site infrastructure and utility interconnections
- Prepare and review calculations, single-line diagrams, load flow, short-circuit studies, arc flash, and grounding per NEC/IEEE/local codes
- Develop construction documents and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit; coordinate with MEP disciplines
- Support permitting, interconnection applications, and plan check responses with authorities
- Provide construction administration, site visits, commissioning, testing, and startup support
- Perform energy modeling and financial analysis for ESCO/EaaS projects including value engineering
- Lead QA/QC, design reviews, and mentor junior staff
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, procurement, and internal teams to maintain schedule and budget
- Stay current with codes, standards, and technologies; support business development and proposals
- Manage multiple projects concurrently ensuring safety, quality, and timely deliverables
Key requirements- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- 3+ years in power systems for commercial, renewable energy, and construction projects
- Experience with power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP, CYME) and protective device coordination
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; BIM coordination experience
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, UL standards, local codes, interconnection requirements, and permitting
- Experience with low-voltage systems, lighting, controls, and infrastructure for commercial facilities
- Experience with ESCO and EaaS projects and lifecycle cost analysis
- Construction administration and field experience including commissioning and testing
- Strong written/verbal communication and multi-disciplinary coordination
- Valid driver's license; willingness to travel
- Certifications such as NABCEP, LEED, PMP, OSHA 10/30 are a plus
