Overview

As a Public Policy Manager for AWS in the Pacific Northwest, you will represent AWS before state and local policymakers and senior government executives to shape data center infrastructure policy and cloud adoption. You will coordinate advocacy strategies with AWS business units and external partners to advance policy priorities in Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska. You will lead engagements with lawmakers, industry associations, and coalitions to create a favorable policy environment for AWS operations. This role combines policy insight with cross-functional collaboration to influence technology infrastructure and AI policy at the state and local level.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute government affairs objectives for AWS in the Pacific Northwest, focusing on Oregon, Washington, Hawaii and Alaska.
  • Lead advocacy on data center infrastructure policy in Oregon and coordinate related external outreach aligned with AWS goals.
  • Identify policy opportunities and threats; craft mitigation strategies and positions; manage external advocacy efforts and initiatives.
  • Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS leaders and policymakers, industry associations, and partners to promote policy positions.
  • Leverage industry associations and policy organizations, and ensure effective use of outside consultants.
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or Economic Development
  • 12+ years in public policy, government relations, public affairs, or related fields
  • Experience in public policy and advocacy related to payments and financial services
  • Proven ability to work with government officials and regulatory bodies
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to explain complex tech to executives
