Overview In this role you partner with leadership in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences to oversee financial management for the Child and Sleep clinical portfolios. You translate complex data into actionable recommendations, guide budgeting, forecasting, and program planning, and ensure cross-entity financial operations align with strategic goals. You will lead a finance team, develop dashboards, and support senior leaders with decision-ready insights. This position offers impact across clinical programs, academic medicine, and hospital partnerships, with a focus on sustainable fiscal health.
Responsibilities- Manage and develop finance staff supporting the Child and Sleep clinical portfolios, including coaching and performance management
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasting and ongoing financial management for divisions and clinical activities
- Advise leadership on financial performance, staffing, provider productivity, and program sustainability
- Direct divisional reporting on wRVUs, clinical FTE, revenue, expenses, and margins
- Resolve complex financial and operational issues across the Department, School of Medicine, and external partners
- Establish controls for high-risk processes including cross-entity funding and faculty effort
- Lead financial planning for new or changing clinical programs including startup funding and post-launch monitoring
- Improve dashboards and workflows through standardization and automation
- Represent the Department in internal/external financial discussions and communicate clear recommendations

- Oversee budgeting and post-award administration for sponsored activities
- Identify and resolve cross-area issues and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects and contribute to policy changes
- Participate in analysis of systems and procedures; implement approved solutions
- Represent the unit to internal and external constituencies
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree, six years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Oracle or other business financial systems
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to present information to all management levels
- Leadership experience with people management
- Understanding of Stanford or non-Stanford equipment and facilities management
- Project management competency for high-volume work
- Experience with post/pre award administration for sponsored projects (if applicable)
- Knowledge of governmental regulations and Cardinal Curriculum I and II
- Procurement knowledge including sole-sourcing, cost analyses, and vendor requirements
