Overview In this role you will advance Formlabs' 3D printing technology by developing new printer architectures and validating precise Galvo control changes. You'll join a cross-disciplinary R&D team to explore new technologies and tackle open-ended problems, turning experiments into hardware and software improvements. You will evaluate current printer performance and design test fixtures, collaborating with engineering teams to implement enhancements such as redesigned support structures. Responsibilities- Create and validate new 3D printing techniques and printer architectures, including Galvo control changes
- Investigate new technologies and contribute to research efforts
- Tackle complex, open-ended problems across multiple engineering disciplines
- Design and run experiments; translate results into hardware/software improvements
- Evaluate printer performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to implement product enhancements (e.g., support structure algorithms)
Key requirements- Question assumptions and back them with data
- Experience in experiment design and data analysis to inform design decisions
- Ability to design and build test fixtures for experiments
- Portfolio of projects demonstrating past work
- Knowledge of programming and scientific computing (Python or Matlab)
- Familiarity with mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in an engineering field
