Overview As Specimen Management Sr. Manager, you will oversee end-to-end specimen flow from drop-off to transfer into testing areas, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely handoffs. You will lead a multi-area team within the Specimen Management organization and drive performance metrics, escalate equipment downtime, and identify cost-saving or process improvements. You'll partner with area leaders to maintain smooth operations in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Your leadership will shape a safe, professional workplace and foster cross-functional collaboration to deliver reliable results.
Responsibilities- Manage the end-to-end specimen workflow from drop-off to transfer to testing areas
- Monitor performance metrics across all areas and prioritize work
- Coordinate communications between area leaders and maintain daily management routines
- Escalate equipment downtime promptly and drive timely resolution
- Identify and communicate cost-saving ideas and process improvements
- Provide strong people leadership and develop the team
- Ensure a safe, ergonomic, professional work environment
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline, Operations Management, or a relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience
- Experience managing functional metrics (Employee Engagement, Quality, Delivery, Costs)
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies/tools and problem solving (highly desirable)
- Experience in a regulated industry (highly desirable)
- Strong performance management and people development capabilities
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
