Responsibilities- Provide technical and scientific leadership for laboratory operations and oversee day-to-day activities, personnel, testing processes, and result reporting
- Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance while fostering a collaborative lab environment
- Oversee Core Laboratory operations and ensure workflow continuity across departments
- Manage personnel activities, budgeting, and fiscal performance
- Lead quality assurance activities and collaborate with lab and care teams to support safe, timely patient care
- Verify test procedures and establish test performance characteristics (precision and accuracy)
- Ensure enrollment and participation in an HHS-approved proficiency testing program
- Establish and maintain a quality control program and determine acceptable analytic performance levels
- Investigate and remediate test system deviations and ensure corrective actions are completed before reporting results
- Identify training needs and provide regular in-service education; evaluate and document competency of testing personnel
- Ensure competency in areas of responsibility and perform semiannual (first year) and annual competency assessments
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in related laboratory science field
- 5 years of clinical laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing
- 3 years of clinical laboratory management or supervisory experience
- Experience with high complexity testing and non-waived testing
- Laboratory training/experience can be fulfilled by internship, full-time, or equivalent hours
