Overview

In this role you design and release busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data center applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to move concepts from design to production. You will model in 2D/3D, support technical submittals, and ensure compliance with standards. You play a key part in first-of-a-kind trials and engineered-to-order solutions, contributing to scalable, reliable power infrastructure. This position offers the chance to influence product design and manufacturing integration at Vertiv, a leader in data center solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and release busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data center use
  • Create 2D/3D SolidWorks models based on project requirements
  • Load production systems with material requirements from approved drawings
  • Support technical engineers with high-quality 2D drawings for client reviews
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on trial runs and mass production preparation
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specs
  • Provide BOMs, manufacturing instructions, and design reports
  • Work with manufacturing to resolve design issues on the shop floor
  • Modify existing designs and create engineered-to-order (ETO) solutions
  • Participate in peer-review of models and drawings, ensuring quality before release
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in an ETO environment
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding, and machining
  • Understanding of ANSI and ISO standards; knowledge of UL/CSA/ETL regulatory bodies preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM system
