Government Account Manager - Great Plains (MN/ND/SD/IA/KS)

Overview

In this role you will drive government account sales for Abbott Diabetes Care products, focusing on expanding regional and national footprint. You'll work with health systems, VA/DoD, and other government facilities to improve access and outcomes, while coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver account-specific solutions. You will manage territory strategy, budgeting, and training implementations to ensure successful product adoption. This position offers remote work with significant travel, and a chance to influence diabetes care across diverse government accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Sell ADC Diabetes Care products to regional government accounts and cross-divisional initiatives to grow market share
  • Manage territory effectively and drive efficient training/implementation
  • Expand into Primary Care and maintain strong account management and customer care
  • Lead self-development and leadership activities while collaborating with internal teams
  • Manage assigned budget to optimize ROI and support profitable growth
  • Ensure compliance with the quality system and assess contracting opportunities for profitability and margin impact
  • Coordinate weekly travel to target facilities and conduct strategic territory planning and business reviews
  • Prepare accurate forecasts and customer business plans for new product sales and distribution
Key requirements
  • Four-year degree in Business, Communications, Health Sciences or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • 3.0 to 5.0 years of proven successful sales experience (Abbott or equivalent); 4+ years if external to Abbott
  • Prior sales experience with VA, DoD, Indian Health; military background or family in military service preferred
  • Managed Care experience
  • Analytical ability, negotiation and contract/legal experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and listening skills
  • High energy, positive attitude, confidence; team oriented with integrity and professionalism
  • Initiative, self-motivation, strong work ethic, career ambition, organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving capability and resourcefulness
  • Leadership and ability to work with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Medical Science Liaisons, etc.)
