Overview As Quality Engineering Team Leader, you will guide quality, reliability, and process improvement for Brooks Instrument products at the Hatfield site. You'll supervise and coach quality technicians, balance production needs with corrective actions, and drive data-driven improvements with cross-functional partners. You'll tackle nonconformances, lead root-cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role combines hands-on quality work with leadership to ensure customer, regulatory, and company requirements are met.

Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day Industrial Products quality activities with hands-on technical work, production support, investigations, and issue resolution
- Set daily priorities, assign work to Quality Technicians, balance workload, and provide direction
- Coach and train technicians; reinforce standard work, decision consistency, and timely issue escalation
- Monitor work quality and performance, communicating risks and trends to the Quality Manager
- Assist Quality Manager with onboarding, skill development, and continuous team improvement
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, customer-focused culture across shifts and functions
- Perform quality engineering activities and audits; establish/maintain quality standards for incoming, in-process, and finished products
- Provide timely floor support for nonconformances; lead containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions with cross-functional teams
- Review and disposition discrepant material ensuring traceability and risk-based decisions
- Review design, production, inspection, and test documentation for applicable quality-system and contract requirements
- Verify operation instructions and inspection documentation; ensure employees understand requirements
- Develop and maintain inspection methods, sampling plans, control plans, and quality data recording tools
- Assess manufacturing capability via capability studies, control charts, and data analysis
- Coordinate annual product validations and other qualification/compliance activities
- Issue engineering deviation requests and product change notices; support sustaining engineering and changes
- Coordinate investigation and resolution of customer quality issues; provide status updates
- Lead or coordinate 8D, CAPA, failure analysis, and effectiveness checks
- Track CAPA and customer complaints in electronic QMS (TrackWise where used)
- Collect, analyze, and report quality data to improve performance and reduce cost of poor quality
- Develop key metrics (FPI yield, scrap, rework, complaints, audits, CAPA aging) and present in reviews
- Apply SPC, Pareto, histograms, capability analysis, and trend charts to drive improvements
- Lead CI initiatives on product quality, process discipline, and defect prevention
- Represent Brooks on new-product-development and cross-functional improvement teams
- Maintain safety practices and address safety concerns in line with zero-accident philosophy
- Perform other duties including first article inspection support and qualification-test documentation

Key requirements- Bachelor in Engineering
- Five or more years in progressive quality engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading work, coordinating priorities, training, or providing technical direction
- Experience in ISO 9001 or other third-party QMS
- Experience leading root-cause analysis, CAPA, nonconforming-material disposition, and cross-functional problem solving
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or similar certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles, statistical methods, and continuous improvement tools
