Overview In this role you drive fleet-wide capital projects from concept to closeout, applying engineering expertise to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency. You work closely with Port Engineers, crews, shipyards, and regulators to deliver meaningful improvements and modernization. You will develop technical specifications, manage budgets, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities- Lead capital improvement projects from concept through commissioning and closeout
- Develop scopes, specifications, estimates, schedules, and bid packages with stakeholders
- Manage budgets and coordinate contractors, shipyards, OEMs, and crews
- Prepare capex requests and project performance reports
- Provide technical support and conduct root-cause investigations
- Review drawings, vendor proposals, manuals, and repair specs
- Develop lifecycle replacement strategies for major equipment
- Support drydock planning, vessel modifications, and major repair projects
- Evaluate new technologies for reliability, safety, sustainability, and efficiency
- Assist with regulatory compliance involving USCG, classification societies, and authorities
- Collaborate with crews, Port Engineers, shipyards, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Support special assignments and other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Minimum of five (5) years in marine engineering, ship repair, vessel technical management, or project management
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects or capital improvements
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field (as stated)
- Preferred: Chief Engineer License or equivalent, PMP or similar PM training
