Manager Enterprise Accounting Operations

Overview

In this role you drive the end-to-end accounting operations for a large healthcare and academic enterprise. You will lead GAAP-compliant financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, partnering with audits and stakeholders to safeguard assets. You'll optimize processes, implement systems, and guide a high-performing team through change. Your work directly supports liquidity, budgeting, and strategic decision-making at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee general ledger, cash accounting, investments, grants and endowments, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and fixed assets; ensure timely close and accurate reporting
  • Manage cash accounting applications, bank reconciliations, and support enterprise treasury operations
  • Lead financial reporting, analyses, and reconciliations in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
  • Develop and strengthen internal controls, collaborate with Internal Audit and ICFR, and support audits
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOX, Medicare/Medicaid, IRS, and other regulations; stay current on regulatory changes
  • Drive process optimization, automation, standardization, and system enhancements to improve efficiency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team; manage performance, coaching, and succession planning
  • Support budgeting/forecasting with data-driven insights and historical analyses
  • Manage external audits and respond to audit findings; coordinate with auditors
  • Engage stakeholders across departments and with regulators to communicate financial information clearly
  • Lead change initiatives including system implementations, policy updates, and process redesigns
  • Identify financial and compliance risks and implement tailored risk controls
  • Manage special projects such as mergers & acquisitions, system integrations, and new business initiatives
Key requirements
  • CPA designation
  • Bachelor in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in a management or leadership role
  • Healthcare industry experience or complex environment preferred
