Overview In this role you drive the financial stewardship of Fluence's largest, most complex projects in the Americas, ensuring budget discipline, timely performance insights, and strong internal controls. You collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to manage contract terms, change orders, and supplier claims, while forecasting risks and opportunities. You shape project delivery through rigorous financial governance and mentorship, contributing to Fluence's mission to accelerate a sustainable energy future. You will be a key interface with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, delivering impact through disciplined program finance management.
Responsibilities- Own the financial management of the portfolio's largest and most complex projects in the Americas
- Provide transparency on project performance against budget and maintain Estimates at Completion for Revenue, Cost, and Margin
- Ensure compliance with accounting guidelines and commercial terms; flag risks
- Forecast projects accurately, incorporating known risks and opportunities
- Maintain internal controls for Order-to-Cash and act as a peer reviewer for control compliance
- Lead improvements in project performance via change orders and supplier claims
- Review and process project transactions (purchase requisitions, invoices, etc.)
- Monitor contract penalties and delays; mitigate impacts
- Coordinate and organize periodic project reviews throughout contract lifecycle
- Identify non-conformance costs and support solution groups
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet delivery timelines and quality
- Understand and manage sales, property, and personal tax requirements
- Mentor junior Portfolio Finance Managers
- Improve project onboarding and execution processes
Key requirements- 8-10 years of experience in financially managing large projects, ideally in energy with EPC and equipment/service contracts
- Advanced understanding of project accounting methods incl. POC revenue recognition
- Advanced understanding of project lifecycle and related activities
- Advanced understanding of commercial contract terms and conditions
- Strong risk management knowledge (insurance, securities, guarantees, liquidated damages)
- Proven negotiation experience with customers and suppliers
- Experience using SAP, Unifier Primavera or similar systems
- Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
