Overview In this role you lead Sabert's site EHS program to keep operations safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible. You align cross functional teams with regulatory standards and company policies to reduce risk and drive measurable safety and environmental improvements. You will spearhead incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous program enhancements across plastics manufacturing processes. Responsibilities- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of EHS, safety, and sustainability policies at the site
- Develop and manage site EHS programs and training calendars, ensuring injury-free operations
- Drive accountability across functions to prevent accidents and environmental incidents
- Identify hazards in plastics manufacturing (thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding, recycling) and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with EPA, Cal/OSHA, CARB, DTSC, and related regulations
- Administer industrial hygiene programs (noise, respiratory protection, heat illness, ergonomics, IAQ, chemical exposure)
- Interact with regulatory agencies and communicate EHS progress to the organization
- Engage employees through awareness campaigns, signage, toolbox talks, and engagement initiatives
- Conduct and document investigations for accidents, incidents, releases, and near-misses with preventive recommendations
- Provide leadership for safety committee and support employee-led safety initiatives
- Perform job hazard analyses, risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and process safety reviews
- Report and audit EHS metrics for leadership and ensure documentation and recordkeeping
- Oversee emergency drills, EAPs, and site emergency response programs
- Benchmark and participate in EHS networks and industry associations
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure EHS compliance and manage contractor safety programs
- Share best practices with Plastics Manufacturing EHS Team via weekly calls
- Manage permits, audits, and training program compliance
Key requirements- Strong knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, CARB, DTSC and related regulatory requirements for plastics manufacturing
- Proven track record in leading safety culture change and employee engagement
- Excellent incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities with sustainable CAPA
- Project management and ability to handle multiple compliance initiatives and timelines
- Ability to analyze safety/environmental data and translate into actions with measurable impact
- Strong communication and influencing skills across all organization levels
- Ability to partner cross-functionally while ensuring compliance and safety standards
- Proficiency with MS Office and EHS management systems for reporting and KPI management
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene, machine safeguarding, lockout/tagout, process safety, ergonomics, and chemical management
- Working knowledge of plastics processes (thermoforming, extrusion, injection molding, packaging, warehousing, recycling) preferred
