Overview In this role you will transform complex operational data into strategic policy insights for OPD. You will connect data to budget requests, legislative testimony, and public reporting, shaping statewide decisions. You'll collaborate with leadership, trial offices, and IT to ensure data integrity and actionable narratives. Responsibilities- Build and operationalize a unified statewide data strategy for OPD
- Lead the development of the OPD Annual Report and MFR reporting; produce executive briefings linking data to outcomes
- Contribute to budget data compilation and graphics; analyze caseloads, staffing, and system pressures for funding decisions
- Support strategic planning by designing client-centered metrics and tracking systemic trends
- Provide rapid-response research for legislative strategy and ensure robust public messaging with policy teams
Key requirements- Six years of administrative staff or professional work
- Substitutions allowed: 30 college credits per year up to four years; bachelor's degree plus two years; master's degree for five years; military service experience can count for required experience
- Experience in policy-relevant research, data analysis, program evaluation, or strategic planning (selective qualifications)
- Strong writing and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex findings for non-technical audiences
- Collaborative stakeholder engagement across agencies, nonprofits, and communities
- Proficiency in quantitative and statistical tools (R, Python, SQL, STATA)
- Experience building interactive data dashboards (Tableau, Power BI)
- Ability to translate fiscal, operational, or legal datasets into policy narratives
