Overview

In this role you lead the CCC Interior Design Studio, guiding technical development and documentation across multiple interior projects. You oversee construction documents, life-safety detailing, and construction administration while mentoring staff and shaping client relationships. You manage project work plans, staffing, and quality control, sealing construction documents and coordinating with owners, contractors, and consultants. This is a hands-on leadership position at SmithGroup's Phoenix office with a focus on delivering integrated interior design solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the CCC Interior Design Studio in technical development and oversight, coordinating with interior designers, design architects, technical architects and owners for documentation and permitting
  • Supervise, prepare, coordinate, and complete construction documents packages per SmithGroup standards with emphasis on life safety and technical detailing
  • Lead day-to-day construction administration activities, coordinating with contractor, owner, and consultants
  • Mentor and oversee junior staff; establish and execute project work plans and staffing
  • Develop trusted client relationships and participate in recruiting and performance management
  • Conduct quality control reviews and enforce guidelines
  • Seal and sign construction documents
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Architecture or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience
  • Architectural Registration required
  • LEED AP preferred
  • Proficient with Revit and SketchUp
  • Experience writing specifications
  • Experience leading other architects and project teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of code implementation and jurisdiction review
  • Demonstrated understanding of construction practices and methodologies
  • Ability to engage with professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build client relationships and trust
