Overview In this role you will perform clinical laboratory testing to support accurate patient results. You will work within the Special Chemistry General department, contributing to quality and turnaround times. Responsibilities- Perform moderate to highly complex clinical tests following procedures and policies
- Prepare and oversee reagents, media, standards, and controls; evaluate new reagents or controls
- Determine specimen acceptability and calculate results using manual or computerized methods
- Enter results accurately and monitor reports; maintain analytical schedules for timely results
- Maintain instrument performance: calibration, maintenance, and quality control; troubleshoot when needed
- Ensure safe, organized work area and proper waste handling; follow safety and infection control procedures
- Train and supervise unlicensed staff and support training programs
- Participate in Quality Improvement meetings and other assigned projects
- Answer phones and manage communications; assist with method development and productivity measures
Key requirements- Zero to three years of direct laboratory experience
- Ability to lift 1-50 pounds with assistance for heavier objects; stand or sit for long periods
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with fine motor skills; color vision testing required for certain functions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); typing skills desirable
- Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if necessary (e.g., California)
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or other life/physical sciences (Required)
