Overview

As Local Product Manager you drive profitable growth for ABB Traction's US portfolio by translating customer needs into technical solutions. You'll collaborate with local sales and global teams to shape product value and ensure successful project hand-overs to engineering. You'll build trusted customer relationships and monitor market trends to identify gaps and improvements. This role offers cross-functional impact, shaping propulsion solutions for sustainable mobility.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate customer requirements and define the optimal technical solution and scope
  • Own customer acquisition and order intake with sales and global product management
  • Ensure smooth hand-over to engineering and maintain ownership of solution costs through projects
  • Deliver superior customer experience with timely technical support
  • Summarize market information, trends, and competitive solutions
  • Identify gaps in ABB portfolio and opportunities in new markets
  • Define customer value proposition and product positioning; support marketing communications (tech talks, webinars, publications)
  • Collaborate with global PM and R&D to consolidate customer needs into product improvements
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years in industrial environment across engineering, R&D and technical sales (or Master in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years)
  • Solid knowledge of power electronics, variable frequency drives and related subsystems (traction motor, transformer, batteries, TCMS)
  • Experience in railway and/or e-mobility sectors (advantage)
  • Strong written and spoken English communication
  • Networking and influence with a collaborative, solution-focused approach
  • Experience managing complex customer relationships and resolving escalations
  • US work authorization; travel within the US and internationally; valid US Driver's license and passport
