Overview In this role you lead a multidisciplinary Fixed Equipment Reliability team to strengthen mechanical integrity, corrosion and materials engineering, and reliability across the refinery. You drive strategies and long-range asset plans to reduce risk, improve equipment availability, and optimize lifecycle cost. You collaborate across operations, maintenance, inspection, projects, and turnarounds to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable refinery operations. The position demands technical leadership, strategic review, and close partnership with refinery leadership to elevate plant safety and performance.
Responsibilities- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary fixed equipment and reliability engineering team
- Set performance expectations, provide coaching, and conduct succession planning
- Steer mechanical integrity programs for fixed assets (pressure vessels, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, fired equipment)
- Develop asset strategies, degradation risk management, and lifecycle cost optimization
- Prioritize improvements using inspection data, corrosion data, and risk information
- Oversee MOC reviews, technical approvals, and complex high-risk changes
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Inspection to improve equipment performance
- Represent the team in Turnarounds and capital projects, ensuring engineering input throughout
- Monitor and report key mechanical integrity and reliability metrics
- Maintain interfaces across Fixed Equipment Engineering, Inspection, Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and Turnarounds
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 7+ years in fixed equipment, mechanical integrity, corrosion and materials, or related engineering in refining or similar industry
- Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership of technical personnel
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, Turnarounds, and capital projects
- Broad knowledge of fixed equipment engineering, corrosion and materials, inspection, and reliability in a refinery
- Ability to manage large, changing workload with safety and risk considerations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
