Overview Lead Mechanical Project Manager for data center construction in Texas, driving mechanical scope from design through turnover. You'll act as the primary mechanical liaison among clients, GCs, EPCs, and AECOM teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives and critical infrastructure requirements. You'll oversee installation and commissioning of mission-critical systems, monitor progress, and guide teams to deliver on time, on budget, and to quality standards. Responsibilities- Manage all mechanical activities across pre-construction, design, phased construction, commissioning, start-up, occupancy and warranty
- Serve as primary mechanical point of contact between client, GC/EPC, AECOM, and stakeholders
- Ensure alignment of mechanical infrastructure with overall project objectives
- Oversee installation of mission-critical systems (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, dry coolers, pumps, air handling equipment)
- Monitor contractor performance, perform field inspections for quality and conformance to specs
- Coordinate milestones with electrical, civil, architectural, and commissioning teams
- Provide technical direction and administer project and client policies
- Facilitate commissioning activities, phased start-up, and turnover
- Process field construction documentation (RFI, submittals) and coordinate with inspectors
- Coordinate meetings with GC and site teams; align with Project Controls on cost/schedule
- Review pay applications; liaise with OFCI for insurance, bill of sale, and owner support
- Ensure project documentation aligns with design, budget, schedule, and quality requirements
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree + 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor's in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field; 15 years in construction
- PMP, CCM, or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience managing large-scale industrial, mission-critical or data center projects
- Knowledge of MEP systems, electrical distribution, cooling infrastructure, and critical facility operations
- Understanding of construction means, methods, project delivery, and contract administration
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and operational readiness
- Experience managing mechanical scopes >$100M in construction value
