Overview In this role you will support the design and development of customized switchgear and fabricated products. You will produce manufacturing drawings, perform design reviews, and coordinate with project teams to ensure timely, accurate documentation in a fast NPD environment. You'll create 3D models and 2D drawings, apply design controls, and track BOM changes to keep projects aligned with specifications. You will work cross-functionally to resolve technical issues while upholding quality and HSE standards. This is a hands-on role at Vertiv, offering impact through delivering production-ready designs on critical power equipment.
Responsibilities- Prepare manufacturing drawings and documentation based on project specs and schedules
- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Conduct design reviews per Design Control Plans
- Coordinate with Design and Project Managers to resolve discrepancies and ensure drawing accuracy
- Track BOM changes and communicate with stakeholders
- Ensure deliverables meet schedules and maintain design accuracy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution
- Maintain HSE compliance and support continuous improvement initiatives
Key requirements- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years in a Design Engineering role, preferably in switchgear or custom fabrication environments
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks PDM
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, sheet metal fabrication, structural components, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of GD&T and technical drafting standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
