Overview In this hands-on role you qualify additive manufacturing systems from installation to production release, building defensible data baselines for Army, Navy, and prime customers. You work with Materials & Process and Application Engineering to supply qualified baselines, protocol structures, and performance data. You lead IQ and OQ execution, FAT/SAT activities, and ensure traceability and compliance across software, firmware, and metrology. This position supports a national-scale manufacturing mission at Hadrian's Torrance base with site travel.

Responsibilities- Author, execute, and close IQ and OQ protocols for AM systems with traceability from installation to production release
- Support PQ by providing qualified equipment baseline, protocol structure, and machine capability data
- Own qualification impact assessment for every engineering change
- Execute FAT/SAT for incoming AM equipment, coordinating OEM field engineers and resolving open items
- Qualify AM software toolchain (build prep, slicing, simulation, firmware, data management) and maintain configuration control
- Qualify metal and polymer platforms, adapting protocols to subsystem differences and acceptance criteria
- Design and run machine capability and equivalence studies with Cpk analysis against drawings
- Qualify metrology systems (CMMs, structured light, laser scanning, CT) and manage gauge R&R, MSA, and calibration traceability
- Partner on powder/polymer lot acceptance, storage, handling per AMS7002; ensure safe powder handling per NFPA 484
- Build qualification data packages for government and prime audits (Army/TACOM, DLA, Navy, NIAR/NCAMP, ISO/ASTM) and serve as interface to depot/auditors
- Define and maintain operator training and requalification records per Nadcap AC7110/14 and customer audits
- Lead structured problem-solving (8D, 5 Whys, fishbone) and drive CAPA to closure
- Cross-functional collaboration with AM, Materials & Process, Manufacturing Engineering, Software, Quality, and Operations to scale protocols
Key requirements- Direct experience qualifying metal AM equipment to AMS7032, ISO/ASTM 52930/52920, or NIAR/NCAMP and US Navy AM requirements
- Experience supporting PQ with materials, process, or application engineering teams
- Experience measuring as-built additive surfaces and performing scan-to-CAD comparisons
- Defense depot or government/A&D production environment background; Nadcap AC7110/14 or AS9100 experience
- Familiarity with government part qualification pathways (Army/TACOM, DLA source approval, first article testing, TDP development per MIL-STD-31000)
- Experience standing up qualification from scratch at a new site
- Knowledge of metrology and QA processes for AM and data packages
