Seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer IV for an established HVAC manufacturing company in Orlando, FL that is growing exponentially!


This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled mechanical designer who enjoys transforming complex concepts into production-ready designs and working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate will have advanced experience with 3D CAD software, particularly Solid Edge or SolidWorks, and a strong background in sheet metal design, fabricated assemblies, and manufacturing processes.

In this role, you will work alongside Product Engineers to develop complex 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). You will also play a key role in supporting production, improving design accuracy, and mentoring other designers.

This position requires working on-site Monday through Friday in Orlando, FL.


Key Responsibilities


Mechanical Design & 3D Modeling

  • Create complex 3D models, assemblies, and detailed production drawings using Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
  • Design sheet metal components, fabricated assemblies, and complete HVAC cabinet systems.
  • Translate engineering concepts and 2D drawings into accurate 3D models and vice versa.
  • Develop and maintain complete sheet metal modules, including detailed component breakdowns.
  • Design piping layouts and electrical routing within mechanical assemblies.
  • Create and maintain installation drawings, instructional documentation, and customer submittals.
  • Develop and maintain CAD drawing templates and title blocks.
  • Generate 3D renderings for technical literature, product documentation, and company websites.

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and part data within CAD and ERP systems.
  • Ensure all sheet metal designs are production-ready, including drawings, material costs, and system item data.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure designs meet fabrication capabilities, manufacturing requirements, and quality standards.
  • Work directly with production teams to resolve cabinet design issues and manufacturing challenges.
  • Complete fabricated part and assembly drawings according to project schedules, worklogs, and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) deadlines.
  • Support design modifications and continuous improvement initiatives.

Engineering Collaboration & Design Leadership

  • Collaborate with Product Engineers and fellow designers to develop accurate, manufacturable solutions.
  • Lead peer design reviews to ensure accuracy, functionality, and consistency across 3D models and assemblies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other designers.
  • Independently complete complex cabinet designs from initial concept through production release.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across engineering, design, and manufacturing departments.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 4-5 years of relevant mechanical design experience; OR an Associate degree in Drafting and Design or a related discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Solid Edge or SolidWorks.
  • Demonstrated experience creating complex 3D parts, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Bills of Materials and part data within ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in 2D drafting, drawing geometry, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes.
  • Ability to independently develop production-ready mechanical designs.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience designing sheet metal cabinets, enclosures, or mechanical assemblies for HVAC equipment.
  • Familiarity with Dedicated Outdoor Air Systems (DOAS), commercial HVAC equipment, or related mechanical systems.
  • Experience designing piping layouts and electrical component routing.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication methods, including bending, punching, welding, and assembly.
  • Experience mentoring junior designers or leading technical design reviews.
  • Background working in an HVAC, industrial equipment, or sheet metal manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Work Environment


  • Annual salary: $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience and technical capabilities.
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday schedule.
