Overview

In this role, you define and drive the long-term strategy for the Global Systems Engineering group within Sleep and Respiratory Care, aligning capabilities to meet business objectives. You lead a large, globally distributed team, shape advanced technology and product development, and foster a high-performance, innovative culture. You partner across functions to guide strategic direction, improve engineering processes, and ensure delivery from concept to launch. This is a pivotal role for scaling system-level capabilities in a regulated medical context.

Responsibilities
  • Set the global Systems Engineering objectives, policies, processes and budgets in collaboration with senior leaders
  • Formulate and steer the long-term vision to maximize business value
  • Manage capabilities, competencies and tools to introduce new technology
  • Own System Engineering standards, methods, and architecture; grow technical depth
  • Oversee people management: recruitment, performance reviews, training, leadership development
  • Co-lead achievement of operational plans; optimize allocation of personnel to projects
  • Build cross-functional/external relationships to shape strategies and identify opportunities
  • Maintain strong customer knowledge to inform decisions
Key requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in a regulated environment; medical/biotech experience preferred
  • Experience leading systems engineering organizations of 100+ FTE
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners (Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Service)
  • Strong coaching and team-building skills aligned with Philips Behaviors
  • Expert knowledge of consumer product development in medical contexts
  • Proven track record defining innovation strategy with engineering, architecture and research
  • Experience leading global, multi-site, matrix projects with cross-country teams
  • Proven leadership of complex products from concept to launch including manufacturing and service readiness
