Our client, a leading healthcare organization committed to excellence in neurological and stroke care, is hiring a Physician Assistant (PA) Stroke Neurology. This specialized role offers an exceptional opportunity for qualified Physician Assistants to deliver comprehensive neurological stroke care within a collaborative and innovative hospital setting. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in patient management, participate in stroke team evaluations, and contribute to achieving national standards as a designated Stroke Center. Under the supervision of experienced neurologists, this position emphasizes patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care according to established practice protocols, including acute and chronic neurologic illnesses.
- Participate in planning, coordination, and evaluation of stroke care programs to ensure adherence to clinical standards and improve patient outcomes.
- Conduct thorough history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments.
- Prescribe medications within the legal scope of practice; perform therapeutic procedures and diagnostic tests.
- Establish medical diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication, promote safe practices, and contribute to stroke team meetings and performance assessments.
- Administer NIH stroke scales and participate in emergency stroke responses across the facility.
- Train clinical staff and educate patients on stroke prevention, management, and follow-up care.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and hospital committees related to stroke care.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and hospital policies, including participation in TJC certification efforts.
Requirements
- Minimum of a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Valid New York State licensure as a Physician Assistant, with eligibility to perform advanced clinical procedures.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant healthcare experience; experience specifically in neurology or stroke care is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage acute neurological events.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call as shared within the stroke care team.
- Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
