Electrical Engineer - Controls & Automation
Schiller Park, IL 60176 Contract-to-Hire Onsite
Talent Solutions Group is recruiting an Electrical Engineer - Controls & Automation for an immediate contract-to-hire opportunity in Schiller Park, Illinois.
We're looking for a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of electrical drawings and controls-related engineering work in an industrial environment. This could be a strong opportunity for an engineer who wants significant responsibility and enjoys working directly with equipment, controls, technicians, and production operations.
This is an urgent need, and qualified candidates can move quickly through the interview process.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation
- Design electrical and controls solutions for industrial equipment
- Support power distribution, PLCs, instrumentation, and motion-control systems
- Perform engineering calculations and prepare equipment specifications
- Select, configure, and troubleshoot servo drives and variable frequency drives
- Support motion-control and electromechanical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues and implement corrective actions
- Support HMI development
- Tune PID controllers
- Assist and train technicians on troubleshooting and technical issues
- Support controls projects from design and scope through installation and startup
- Coordinate with outside contractors during equipment installations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and electromechanical systems
- Ability to create and work with electrical drawings and schematics
- Experience with industrial controls and automation
- Experience selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting servo drives and VFDs
- PLC and instrumentation experience
- Experience taking controls projects from design through installation/startup
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Highly Desired
Experience with any of the following is particularly valuable:
- Bosch Rexroth / IndraWorks Engineering
- Visual Motion
- Servo and motion-control systems
- Exor / JMobile HMI development
- PID controller tuning
- Industrial continuous-process or automated manufacturing environments
Candidates do not need to match every preferred technology if they bring a strong electrical engineering, controls, motion, and industrial automation foundation.
