Safety Manager - Manufacturing
Location: Illinois
Salary: $75,000-$90,000/year
Schedule: Full-Time Primarily 8:00 a.m. start Some second-shift support as needed
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead EHS and safety programs for a 400-employee, two-shift sheet metal manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong presence on the production floor.
Main Requirements
- 5+ years of Safety/EHS experience, preferably in manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, welding, or a similar industrial environment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and recordkeeping
- Experience managing a manufacturing/industrial safety program
- Experience conducting safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Experience developing and conducting employee safety training
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, PPE, Hazard Communication/SDS, forklift safety, and material handling
- Experience with environmental compliance, regulatory reporting, hazardous materials, and/or hazardous waste
- Ability to work hands-on and spend significant time on the manufacturing floor
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Must be flexible to occasionally support second shift, which begins at 3:30 p.m.
Preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour certification
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Sheet metal, metalworking, or fabrication safety experience
- Experience preparing for OSHA, environmental, insurance, or customer audits
- EHS-related professional certification a plus
Ideal candidate: A hands-on manufacturing safety professional who is comfortable working directly with production employees and supervisors, enforcing safety standards, conducting training, investigating incidents, and maintaining OSHA and environmental compliance.
